The Brazilian director João Paulo Miranda Maria mentions both Stanley Kubrick and Dziga Vertov among the directors who influenced him. A quite puzzling association which gets its full meaning when watching his film. Command Action captures the rhythm of a Brazilian city and at the same time succeeds in bringing eeriness and even science-fiction, by the simple presence of a masterless robot toy. The setting is also quite unlikely, which adds to the promising originality of this both refined and catchy film.
